It’s been a busy spring so far for the Green Sheep but today we’re taking a moment to stop, reflect, and share some stories with you. Below, we’ve got some exciting news and an incredible story from one of our team members that we implore you to read!

Before we get to those, we want to talk to you about one of the most exciting parts of any project - the materials and finishes.

While the overall form and layout provide the functional skeleton of the home, the colours and materials we cover it in provide the soul.

It’s an opportunity for our clients to put a unique stamp on their spaces, work in their favourite colours (yes adults also have favourite colours), and create spaces that feel like them.

We love working with our clients on material selection because it’s not only where we bring colour, joy and depth into a project, it’s also a chance for us to flex our sustainability knowledge and expertise.

We’ve spent years building up a library of materials and finishes that have minimal impact on the planet, are safe to work with, and result in a healthier home for our clients.

Arli’s Dad Restored a Nissen Hut…

…and Arli has been generous enough to share the story with us all!

Documenting how it came to be in his possession, its significant history, and the restoration process, Arli’s blog entry is a visual diary for all us architecture / design / history buffs.

Sustainable Practice Award Nomination

We’re excited to share that we’ve been shortlisted for the Small Sustainable Practice category at the 2025 Sustainability Awards.

This nomination is particularly meaningful to us since we were identified and nominated by our peers - thank you!

The field of nominees is an impressive group and we’re equally chuffed and amazed to be amongst them.

The award is announced this month and we look forward to keeping you updated!

Events Galore!

Shae has been incredibly busy this spring, popping from event to event, sharing the Green Sheep Collective story and talking to the importance of sustainable design and business.

Starting with a talk for Totally Renewable Yackandandah, titled 'Design Smarts: Creating Comfortable Homes on Any Budget', Shae unpacked passive design strategies and how they lead to smart, impactful design choices. The talk was aimed at homeowners looking to improve their homes, whether it be a minor renovation or a major rebuild.

Next it was off to the Melbourne Build Expo where Green Sheep Collective had a display spot in the Architect’s Hub and Shae was enlisted as a sustainability advocate and an ambassador for women in construction.

Finally, Shae spent a weekend in Castlemaine at the ACA’s ‘Business of Architecture in the Regions’ where she delivered a talk on how Green Sheep Collective operates sustainably not only in design, but also as a business. Redmond Hamlett of WHD+A wrote a fantastic summary of the day which can be read here.
