Over the next couple of months, two of our most loved projects will be finishing up on site and we’re approaching those endings with great excitement, deep pride and also a little sadness.

We’re incredibly excited to see two wonderful families move into homes shaped around their values and start the next chapter in their respective stories.

We’re proud because our clients have achieved something special, having set out on a great adventure filled with many unknowns.

And we’re sad because our part in their journeys is largely drawing to a close.

As we take a moment to reflect on the two unique and sometimes challenging projects, and the beautiful relationships we’ve built, we thought we’d give you a little peek behind the curtain:

Vanakkam House built by Never Stop Group

Vanakkam House is an exploration in rich materiality and crafted features. The design references the works of Geoffrey Bawa, a reknowned Sri Lankan architect, to celebrate our clients’ heritage and to bring a unique aesthetic to Melbourne’s inner north.

Prioritising hand made pieces, such as the rich timber benchtops from Heimur and the zellige tiles from Tiles of Ezra, the home feels immediately warm and deeply storied.

Diamond Creek House built by Overend Constructions

When our clients purchased an overgrown property with an ageing house, they had a singular vision to see it transformed. They dreamt of a regenerated site populated entirely with natives while featuring a showpiece home that puts on display modern sustainable design strategies. Their goal was to set an example for the community and leave a legacy for their family.

Five years on, their vision is on the cusp of realisation. Their landmark home sits elegantly in the sloping site which is budding with new growth. Featuring impressive solar and water collection systems, the home will function entirely off grid. The internal spaces prioritise communal living with a focus on bringing the family together.

We look forward to seeing these projects become well-loved homes and we’ll endeavour to share more of them with you down the track while expanding on their stories.

Clifton Hill
We’ve been hard at work on the design of the renovation and extension to a heritage home in Clifton Hill for a family of five. The design makes efficient use of space and looks to maximise functionality on a tight inner city site. A raked ceiling and corner windows ensure plenty of north sun, natural light and framed garden views on two sides.

Upper Ferntree Gully
On a beautiful yet tricky site in the Dandenong Ranges, we’re designing a masterplan intended to sure up the property’s longevity, energy efficiency and functionality. The two key focuses are rationalising the connection between house and landscape, and upgrading the home to increase thermal comfort, efficiency and an exciting and highly liveable layout.
